About Tulip Music Art

Our History

Tulip Music Art was started by Eun Ah Chang in 2014. She had a vision to help people grow into music lovers, so she started Tulip Music Art. So far, it has successfully made many people become music lovers; some have even become teachers to carry on that vision. Tulip Music Art teachers wish to pass this vision on to the future generations.

Our Teaching Philosophy

At Tulip Music Art, our goal is to make all of our students music lovers who will enjoy music for the rest of their lives. We aim to use multi-sensory learning (MSL) with our students to help them learn in a fun and memorable way. We wish for our students to learn through integrated activities as well as MSL; this has proven to be helpful for our students.

Teachers at Tulip Music Art

Eun Ah Chang - Owner and Director of Tulip Music Art

Hello, my name is Eunah Chang, and I am the owner and director of Tulip Music Art. I am originally from South Korea, where I completed my masters in composition and music therapy. During this time, I started teaching piano,

and this year marks my 30th year of being a piano teacher.

I also have extensive experience working in music therapy

as I started working during my graduate years,

providing music and art therapy to clients of various ages. I also worked as a lecturer at Handong Global University and Jeju International University.

I moved to Canada in 2012 and started my own home music studio with the goal to guide my students to become music lovers for the rest of their lives. As a result, a number of my students have decided to become junior teachers and teachers who currently work under me, all of whom have completed RCM 8 and the majority of whom have finished RCM 9 or higher. I am also a certified RCM Advanced, Intermediate, and Elementary Specialist.

My greatest wish is for all of my students to see music as a friend and something that they can love for the rest of their lives.

As someone who started learning piano at the young age of

5 years old, I can confidently say that music has been one of my greatest joys, comforts, and friends.

Nothing would make me happier than seeing

my own students experience this joy for themselves.

Joshua Yoo - Teacher

Hi! I’m Joshua Yoo, and I’ve been playing piano since I was 7 years old. While I’ve formally completed RCM Level 8, I regularly learn and perform ARCT-level repertoire, continuing to grow as both a pianist and teacher. Piano has been a constant in my life, and I’m passionate about helping others experience the same joy and fulfillment through music.

I’m currently studying at the University of Toronto, pursuing a double major in Immunology and Cell & Molecular Biology. Although my academic focus is in the sciences, music remains an important part of who I am—and teaching allows me to share that with others.

I specialize in working with beginners and take pride in helping new students build a strong foundation. My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves through music and growing in confidence. I focus on technical development, musical understanding, and building a genuine love for the instrument.

Kharis Chang - Teacher

Hello~ My name is Kharis. As of now, I am majoring in pre-pharmacy (with a minor in Korean Studies) at Purdue University in Indiana. Despite going into a STEM-heavy major, music and teaching are two things I hold very dear and something that I am continuing to enjoy despite my busy academic life.

I started learning piano when I was 6 years old and completed RCM 9 while in high school, after which I started working as an RCM certified teacher and a certified Smart 8: Arts Convergence Program teacher. I am still continuing piano and piano-related activities, working on RCM 10 in my spare time and also translating the Piano Academia series: I recently received my Piano Academia Education Specialist certificate.

Having been immersed in music from the young age of 6, I have found music to be a great friend for me throughout all these years. It is my greatest wish that I can help my own students experience this for themselves.

Irene Lee - Teacher

Hello, I'm Irene! I’ve been playing piano since I was five years old and have completed RCM Level 10. In 2022, I received my certificate for completing the Teacher Course in the Smart 8: Arts Convergence Program. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to explore a wide range of music, from classical pieces to modern works, and piano has always been a fun and rewarding part of my life.

I am studying Nursing at the University of Calgary, but I continue to stay connected to music through teaching. I enjoy working with students of different ages and helping them discover their own interests at the piano. Whether it’s learning a new piece, building solid technique, or just enjoying the process, I aim to make lessons clear, encouraging, and enjoyable.

For me, piano has always been something that brings balance to my life, and I hope to share that same experience with my students.

Khloe Chang - Junior Teacher

Hi! My name is Khloe, and I am a high school student! I have been an RCM certified teacher since 2024 and have been teaching as a junior teacher under Tulip Music Art for three years now. I am currently working on my RCM 10, which I hope to finish in 2026.

My musical journey began with Teacher Eun Ah Chang when I was around 4 years old. After starting piano, I continuously took exams, including the RCM 8 and RCM 9 exams. I also participated in the 2024 Global Sekwang Piano Competition and won second place in my division.

I am a RCM certified teacher, a certified Smart 8: Arts Convergence Program teacher, and a Piano Academia Education Specialist. I currently teach some younger children Smart 8 and Piano Academia, while I teach older students RCM. My RCM certificate is an Elementary Piano certificate, but I am also currently teaching some intermediate level students. I'm very excited to meet all of you!

Crystal Lee - Junior Teacher

Hi! My name is Crystal Lee, and I am a high school student! I am a junior teacher under Tulip Music Art moving on to RCM Level 10, currently working on completing RCM Level 9 theory this year.

I started learning piano when I was five through Smart 8: An Integrated Art, which helped me foster a foundation in both music and art. From there, I continued into RCM and have been developing my music skills ever since. Along the way, I received prizes from the Global Sekwang Piano Competition, which really encouraged me to grow and continue with music.

My teaching experience started in 2024, when I was 15 years old. I started with getting my certifications as a Smart 8: Arts Convergence Program teacher! I am currently teaching Smart 8 online for a child in South Korea, and I am helping her learn English as we learn music and art. I am excited to be pioneering in online Smart 8 classes for people all around the world; I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learnt so far and helping students continue to grow just like I did! I also recently received my Piano Academia Education Specialist certificate and am teaching my very first piano student!

Fun Fact About Me: Outside of music, I love drawing and exploring different art mediums, which help me express myself and my creativity.

Louie Cho - Junior Teacher

Hello, my name is Louie Cho. I am currently preparing for the RCM Level 9 piano exam. My musical journey began when I was four years old. At first, I joined a program called Smart 8, and in Grade 1, I started formal piano lessons.

In the beginning, I didn’t enjoy piano because it felt difficult. However, thanks to my teacher’s patience and encouragement, I gradually developed a genuine interest in music. Over time, my skills improved, and I eventually passed the RCM Level 8 exam, an achievement I am very proud of.

I now attend the Calgary French & International School, where I play the French horn in the school band. While I don’t plan to major in piano, music remains an important and meaningful part of my life. Whether I am practicing the piano or the French horn, music always gives me a sense of peace and joy.

I hope that other young people, including my younger brother, can experience the same joy that music has brought me. Learning music is not only about developing skills; it also teaches patience, discipline, and perseverance.

Above all, I hope music will continue to be

a lifelong source of inspiration and happiness for me and others.

More to Come Hopefully!

Performance is indeed motion, emotion, and love, but the greatest of these is love.
